May 17, 2017 (San Diego’s East County) – Pursuit of Marvin Peeples, a suspect reportedly violating a restraining order in Lemon Grove yesterday, led to a deputy’s vehicle became involved in a collision in San Diego before the suspect was ultimately arrested.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of the restraining order violation off Blossom Hill in Lemon Grove shortly before noon, says Sergeant Scott Roller.  When confronted by the deputies, Peeples tried to flee in a grey Kia sedan.

“A scuffle ensued between deputies and Peeples as he attempted multiple times to start the sedan and shift it into reverse,” said Sergeant Roller.”When Peeples was able to engage the vehicle to move, deputies ceased their efforts to physically detain him in fear they would be injured or killed.”

Peeples fled in the vehicle, with deputies in pursuit.  He ran multiple red lights before entering an intersection against the red light at Euclid and University in San Diego.

The pursuing deputy collided with a Honda Civic, which then impacted a parked Ford Expedition.  After the collision, deputies briefly lost sight of Peeples but soon located him in the 4700 block of Miracle drive, still in his vehicle.  A high risk stop was conducted and Peeples was detained without further incident.

He was arrested for two outstanding warrants, violating a restraining order, felony evasion, assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.

There were no reported injuries.  Traffic investigators from San Diego Police Department and San Diego Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.
