LEMON GROVE HISTORICAL SOCIETY ANNOUNCES MAY EVENT SERIES

April 13, 2018 (Lemon Grove) -- The Lemon Grove Historical Society will host a series of free, entertaining, and informative events in Lemon Grove during May including film night, an author booksigning, a Holocaust survivor, a family business recognition, and Parsonage Museum tours.

May 1 at 6 p.m., our Business Recognition Series continues at city council with honors for Sharon Jones and The Grove Grinder, a family business here since 1972, as part of the 40th anniversary of civic incorporation. Community Center, 3140 School Lane, Lemon Grove; the ceremony is right after the Pledge of Allegiance and runs 15 minutes.

May 3 at 7 p.m., History Alive continues with historian and ace story teller James Newland, unveiling his new book, Grossmont Hospital: A Legacy of Community Service, with the story in words and pictures. Book signing.

May 9, 16, 23, 30 at 6 p.m.,Film Night in the Library returns with one-hour programs in the series, America's Untold Story: Secrets of the Dead.  Who got here before the Pilgrims in 1620? And what was the aftermath? The answers will surprise you. Plus, you'll be home before dark. Lemon Grove Library, 3001 School Lane.

May 26 at 2 p.m.,The Remembrance Project joins with Meet the Author to greet Madeline Swidler Scott, a Holocaust survivor and author with a riveting story to tell. Book signing. Lemon Grove Library, 3001 School Lane.

May Saturdays, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., visit the Parsonage Museum, 3185 Olive, Lemon Grove, and delight in two floors of exhibits related to local history, including Miller Dairy Remembered. Those cows, those bottles, those hay and manure!
