April 2, 2019 (Lemon Grove) – Lemon Grove Historical Society president Helen Ofield will present the dramatic story of the infamous Mattoon Act, 1925-1940. The program will be held this Thursday, April 4 at 7 p.m. in the H. Lee House, 3205 Olive, Lemon Grove,
“Did your forebears lose home, business, money and land under the yoke of the Mattoon Act? Some right here in paradise are living with the effects in the 21st century. Though nobly intentioned, this pyramid scheme wreaked havoc. Ofield provides the lowdown in words and pictures,” Ofield says.

Videotaping of lectures is underwritten by a Community Enhancement Grant from the San Diego Board of Supervisors on the recommendation of Supervisor Dianne Jacob, District 2. Ancillary costs of the series are underwritten in part by the Mary England Endowment for Education.
