LOCAL GOVERNMENT REPORT: HOT HEARINGS THIS WEEK ON EAST COUNTY ISSUES

May 1, 2016 (San Diego’s East County) – San Diego Supervisors, Lakeside’s Community Planning Group and the Lemon Grove Council all meet this week, with hot agenda items that include legalizing catering at wineries and breweries, building a Lakeside Equestrian Center, and putting SANDAG’s transit tax measure on the ballot. Below are details on these issues and more, plus links to full agendas.

San Diego Supervisors meet Tuesday and Wednesday, May 3rd and 4th starting at 9 a.m. in the County administration building (1600 Pacific Highway, San Diego).   There are several East County issues on the agendas. On Tuesday, Supervisors will consider a Grossmont Union High School District request to extend a contract for educational services in Sheriff-run detention facilities.  On Wednesday, Supervisors will consider exploring enhanced food service options for local breweries and wineries, including catering services.  They will also consider possible changes to aviation leases at the Ramona airport. The Lakeside Community Planning Group will meet on Wednesday, May 4th at 6:30 p.m. in the Lakeside Community Center (9841 Vine St., Lakeside).  The agenda includes county presentations and possible votes on a Lakeside Equestrian Center as well as tree removals on Julian Avenue.  There will also be a hearing on proposed changes to the Terrace Hill residential development project.  The Lakeside Community Planning Group also seeks applicants to fill two vacancies for members on the board. Lemon Grove’s City Council meets on Tuesday, May 3rd at 6 p.m. at the Lemon Grove Community Center (3146 School Lane).  Council will vote on whether to approve SANDAG’s proposed transit funding ballot measure.
