November 5, 2024 (San Diego’s East County) – All four East County cities had measures on the ballot to raise or extend sale taxes, and three of the four are winning by large margins.
In Lemon Grove, which experienced flooding tied to storm drains in January, voters overwhelmingly support passage of Measure to raise sales taxes, with 70.26% voting yes. La Mesa’s Measure L, extending a ¾ cent sales tax set to expire, has a whopping 79.61% voting in support, while El Cajon’s Measure T to extend its earlier sales tax increase has 67.34% in favor.
But Santee voters are rejecting Measure S to fund firefighting and fire stations, with 55.40% no votes in early voting returns.
