August 30, 2016 (Lemon Grove) – The Lemon Grove Historical Society’s next “History Alive” program will feature Donna Vitale Lupinacci, bringing life to the story of American nursing during the Civil War. The event will be held Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. on "History Alive" in the H. Lee House, 3205 Olive, Lemon Grove.
With pictures, words and artifacts, Lupinacci, a master nurse and former military nurse, will deliver the gripping story of a new branch of medicine developed under fire on the battlefield and in makeshift hospitals, with uncommon courage, and technology comprised of cloth bandages, splints, boiled water and sheer courage
The 39th season of this free, essential lecture series is suitable for ages 18 and over. Videotaping of lectures is made possible by a Community Enhancement Grant from the San Diego Board of Supervisors on the recommendation of Supervisor Dianne Jacob, District 2. Ancillary costs of the series are underwritten in part by the Mary England Endowment for Education.
